Rain Barrels
Rain Barrels are a perfect solution in the Highlands for residents to cut down on water usage and reduce the amount of rainwater runoff. You can purchase a Rain Barrel locally through the MWRD. November marks the last month for rain barrel pick up in 2009, pick ups will resume March 2010.
Size of the barrels: 55 gallon capacity, Diameter is approximately 21 inches, height is approximately 34 inches.
Rain barrels come in three colors, tan, blue and black; but choice of colors will be available at time of pickup and on a first come, first served basis.
There is a limit of 2 barrels per household.
Barrels cost $40 each. Purchase with a credit card, on-line only. No cash or check sales at pick-up locations.
No returns or exchanges.
Rain barrel distribution takes place during the First Saturday and First Thursday of each month ONLY:
North Side Plant, 3500 W. Howard, Skokie
Saturday 9am-1pm
Stickney Plant, 6001 W. Pershing, Cicero
Saturday 9am-1pm
Calumet Plant, 400 East 130th Street, Chicago
Thursday 4pm-7pm
Please bring your receipt and a vehicle to accommodate. The rain barrels will fit in the back seat or trunk of a regular-sized sedan.
