Cook County Sheriff Extra Duty Officer Patrol

  • The Township of Lyons has transitioned from Indian Head Park Police to the Cook County Sheriff’s Police to patrol an Extra Duty Service between the hours of 3:30 pm to 9:30 pm. The Extra Duty Officer will patrol within the jurisdiction of La Grange Highlands, and will assist the Cook County Sheriff’s regularly assigned patrol in all calls for police service and on-view criminal activity. The Extra Duty Police Service in La Grange Highlands is 7 days per week. Each Extra Duty Officer shall be supervised on a daily continuing basis by the regular Cook County Sheriff’s Police supervisory personnel on duty. I will be communicating with them to please continue a strong presence when school is being let out.

Clean Up Day

  • Clean up Day this year will be held on May 20, 2017, 7:00 AM -1:00 PM. Residents of the La Grange Highlands may bring non-hazardous items for disposal at no charge (no TV's or computer equipment). This is the perfect time to get the house cleaned up and dispose of all those unneeded items.

Request for Zoning Variance

  • The Cook County Zoning Board of Appeals met on January 18, 2017 and unanimously voted to recommend denial of the request for a variance to sub divide a lot at 5833 Blackstone Avenue.  The full Cook County Board voted to deny the request of the variance at the March 8, 2017 meeting.  In addition to our Board members, Jodi and Mike Golm and Kim and Rick Borkus, who lead the fight, we want to thank Commissioners Sean Morrison and Jeffery Toblolski for their support, and Mayors Sean McDermott, Countryside , and Tim Hinshaw, Indian Head Park, for getting their respective villages on board to oppose the variance.  While the decision could technically be appealed in the courts, we hope this puts this matter to rest.

IDOT Plans for 55th Street

  • A public hearing was held by the Illinois Department of Transportation on August 24 at the Pleasantview Fire Station regarding its plans for improvements to 55th street between Wolf Road and Brainard. The proposal is part of IDOT's overall plan for area roads as a result of a settlement of a law suit with Vulcan Materials regarding the closure of Joliet Road in 1998 between East Avenue and 55th Street. The proposal, which is still in the initial stages and has not yet been funded, would provide, among other things for the widening and resurfacing of 55th street between Wolf Road and Brainard Avenue, drainage improvements which are being coordinated with efforts of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District and other local communities to address drainage issues in the area.
